Set up a weekly meal-planning routine
A routine is something Melo does for you on a schedule. The meal-plan routine drafts the coming week's dinners every Sunday morning, avoiding last week's repeats, and posts the plan to your family feed.
Create the routine
- Open Routines. Open the menu (the ☰ button at the top left) and tap Routines, then New routine.
- Choose Meal plan. It is the template that creates a plan for the whole upcoming week.
- Check the schedule. The default is every Sunday at 10:00 in your timezone. Change the day or time if Saturday evening suits your shopping better.
- Grocery list (optional). Turn on Also generate a grocery list if you want a shopping list created alongside the plan. It is off by default.
- Name it and save. Something like "Weeknight dinners". The routine shows its next run time in the list.
What happens each week
- At the scheduled time Melo drafts the plan and posts it to the Family Feed, where everyone in your group can see it and react.
- You get a notification when it is ready. Open it to tweak meals, swap a day, or ask Melo for alternatives in chat.
- Melo remembers what it suggested last week so the same dinners do not come back two weeks running.
Make it yours
- Tell Melo about your family's tastes and constraints in chat once, for example "we are vegetarian on weekdays and one kid hates mushrooms". Routines use what Melo knows about your family.
- Pause a routine from its page whenever you are travelling; resume it when you are back.
- Each family can have up to five active routines.
